Job Description

An excellent opportunity exists for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students in a school setting located in Boise, Idaho. This contract position is ideal for a dedicated professional with specialized skills in working with deaf and hard of hearing students. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and support the educational needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's communication and learning requirements.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to promote effective communication strategies.
  • Provide direct instruction and use assistive technology to enhance students' engagement.
  • Advocate for students access to appropriate accommodations and resources within the school setting.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of student progress, adapting strategies as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure relevant to working with deaf/hard of hearing students.
  • Experience in educational settings supporting deaf or hard of hearing students.
  • Strong knowledge of communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) and other auditory-oral techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
