Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, or eligibility to obtain

  • Familiarity with technology and assistive listening devices
  • Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant communication methods
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Compassionate, adaptable, and patient approach with excellent communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Assess learners hearing abilities and communication needs using specialized tools and techniques
  • Develop customized intervention plans to support students academic and social success
  • Provide direct instruction and consultation to students with varying degrees of hearing loss
  • Work with teachers and staff to adapt classroom materials and teaching practices
  • Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff, advocating for students needs
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with school policies and relevant regulations
