Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, or eligibility to obtain
- Background in educational settings, ideally with school-age children or adolescents
- Familiarity with technology and assistive listening devices
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant communication methods
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Compassionate, adaptable, and patient approach with excellent communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Assess learners hearing abilities and communication needs using specialized tools and techniques
- Develop customized intervention plans to support students academic and social success
- Provide direct instruction and consultation to students with varying degrees of hearing loss
- Work with teachers and staff to adapt classroom materials and teaching practices
- Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff, advocating for students needs
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with school policies and relevant regulations
