Job Description

Seeking a skilled Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students in a school setting located in Batavia, IL. This contract position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the educational experience of students with hearing impairments by providing specialized support and fostering inclusive communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate students communication needs related to hearing impairments.
  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to promote effective communication and learning strategies.
  • Provide direct instruction and support using appropriate assistive technologies and communication methods.
  • Facilitate inclusion by educating peers and staff about Deaf culture and hearing loss.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent.
  • Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods.
  • Familiarity with assistive listening devices and technology used in classroom settings.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Location:

  • Position is based in Batavia, IL within a school setting.
  • This is a contract role with specific duration terms.
