Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Previous experience working in K-12 school settings is highly valued
- Strong knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and relevant assessments
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities used by Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, speech-language pathologists, and family members
- Passion for fostering an inclusive, accessible, and supportive classroom atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction, consultation, and support services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans and accommodations
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom communication methods for diverse student needs
- Conduct assessments to identify students strengths, needs, and progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and advocate for students rights and accommodations
- Partner with educators and staff to build awareness and understanding of Deaf culture and communication strategies
