A school-based opportunity is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to provide expertise and support for students with hearing impairments. This role is based in Aurora, IL, and is offered on a contract basis.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and support students with hearing impairments to facilitate academic and social success
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to students' needs
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and strategies are in place
- Utilize specialized communication methods and assistive technologies as needed
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions accordingly
Qualifications:
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in educational settings
- Knowledge of audiological equipment, speech therapy techniques, and assistive technologies
- Familiarity with legal requirements and educational standards for students with hearing impairments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Relevant certification or licensure in deaf education or related fields is preferred
Location: Aurora, Illinois work within a school setting assisting students on-site.
