Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent required
- Experience providing support and services to students with hearing impairments
- Familiarity with assistive technology, individualized education plans (IEPs), and accommodations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside teachers, staff, and families
- Knowledge of current best practices and legal requirements related to hearing impairments in a school setting
- Ability to use American Sign Language (ASL) is highly desirable
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Assess student needs and participate in the development and implementation of IEPs
- Provide training and resources to classroom teachers and staff to support inclusion and accessibility
- Advocate for students needs in meetings with interdisciplinary teams and families
- Support students in the use of hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM systems, and other assistive technology
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all students
