A contract position is available in Arlington, TX for a skilled Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students within a school environment. This role requires expertise in providing specialized educational services to children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, enhancing communication access and promoting academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Provide direct instruction and support using appropriate communication methods, including sign language and assistive technologies
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary to improve outcomes
- Conduct assessments related to hearing and communication needs and recommend accommodations
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or related field
- Proven experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant communication techniques
- Strong knowledge of auditory and speech development, assistive listening devices, and educational strategies for hearing-impaired students
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
