What Were Looking For:

  • Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or equivalent eligibility)
  • Solid experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
  • Expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of assistive listening devices
  • Ability to develop and deliver Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
  • Strong skills in consultation, advocacy, and effective communication with diverse teams
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for promoting equity in education

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services for students with hearing impairments
  • Conduct assessments to identify students needs and recommend appropriate accommodations or technologies
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to modify curriculum and classroom environment as needed
  • Foster communication between students, families, and educators regarding progress and needs
  • Deliver professional development and technical assistance to school staff regarding best practices for supporting deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Track student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
