What Were Looking For:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or equivalent eligibility)
- Solid experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
- Expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of assistive listening devices
- Ability to develop and deliver Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
- Strong skills in consultation, advocacy, and effective communication with diverse teams
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for promoting equity in education
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services for students with hearing impairments
- Conduct assessments to identify students needs and recommend appropriate accommodations or technologies
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to modify curriculum and classroom environment as needed
- Foster communication between students, families, and educators regarding progress and needs
- Deliver professional development and technical assistance to school staff regarding best practices for supporting deaf and hard of hearing students
- Track student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
