A school in Arlington, TX is seeking a qualified Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist for a contract position. This role is essential in supporting students with hearing impairments to achieve their academic and social potential within the school environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments to identify students hearing needs and developing individualized plans to support their learning
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to implement effective communication strategies and accommodations
- Providing direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, including language development and use of assistive technologies
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting support plans as necessary
- Participating in educational team meetings and advocating for student needs
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or related credential
- Experience working with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of auditory-verbal therapy techniques and assistive listening devices
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and specialists
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
