Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid licensure or certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (as required by state regulations)
• Experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Strong American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency, along with other communication modalities
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
• Ability to design and adapt instruction based on individual student needs
• Familiarity with assistive listening devices, hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM systems
• Commitment to fostering an accessible and supportive educational environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing within educational settings
• Assess students needs and develop Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and accommodations
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure accessibility in classrooms and school activities
• Support students self-advocacy and communication development
• Train and consult on the effective use of assistive devices and technology
• Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and professional development as required
