Job Description

A school in Arlington, TX is seeking a qualified Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist for a contract position. This role is essential in supporting students with hearing impairments to achieve their academic and social potential within the school environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments to identify students hearing needs and developing individualized plans to support their learning
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to implement effective communication strategies and accommodations
  • Providing direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, including language development and use of assistive technologies
  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting support plans as necessary
  • Participating in educational team meetings and advocating for student needs

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or related credential
  • Experience working with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of auditory-verbal therapy techniques and assistive listening devices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and specialists
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
