Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
  • Experience working within a school setting strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of assistive listening devices, bilingual-bicultural/total communication methods, and IEP development
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt strategies to meet unique student needs and support individualized growth

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify students needs related to hearing loss
  • Develop and implement tailored education plans, accommodations, and modifications
  • Provide direct instruction and support services to students with hearing impairments
  • Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families for inclusive educational experiences
  • Offer guidance and training on hearing loss issues and equipment to school personnel
  • Advocate for accessible school environments and foster self-advocacy skills in students
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and monitor student progress
