Job Description

Support students in a dynamic educational environment dedicated to meeting the needs of learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or eligibility for Texas credentials
  • In-depth knowledge of current best practices for supporting students with hearing loss in school settings
  • Experience with assessment, IEP development, and educational planning for Deaf / Hard of Hearing students
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage with students, staff, and families
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and accommodations for Deaf / Hard of Hearing learners
  • Commitment to promoting accessibility, advocacy, and independence

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to Deaf / Hard of Hearing students according to their Individualized Education Plans
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to implement accommodations and modifications
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and needs
  • Attend and contribute to ARD/IEP meetings and interdisciplinary planning sessions
  • Offer guidance and training for teachers, support staff, and families on strategies and technology for fostering success
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school community
