Make a difference each day by working as a specialist supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a dynamic school environment. You will play a vital role in fostering communication, promoting inclusivity, and providing expert guidance to both students and staff members.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a school or educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used with the Deaf/Hard of Hearing population
- Knowledge of best practices in individualized instruction, technology, and accommodations
- Strong collaboration skills to work with general/special education staff, families, and related service providers
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, both individually and in small groups
- Assess student needs and assist in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Consult with classroom teachers and school teams to recommend strategies, supports, and classroom modifications
- Facilitate effective communication between students, peers, and school staff
- Advocate for student access to appropriate resources, technology, and materials
- Collaborate with families to ensure alignment of goals and supports between home and school settings
