Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Demonstrated knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and various communication modalities
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs and 504 plans
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Prior school-based experience preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocate for and support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in mainstream and specialized settings
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods, utilizing assistive technology as needed
- Serve as a liaison between students, staff, and families to ensure effective communication
- Conduct assessments and monitor student progress toward IEP goals
- Provide consultation and in-service trainings for school personnel on best practices
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student success
