Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure for Deaf / Hard of Hearing education (as required by state regulations)
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and various communication modalities
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills
- Collaborative mindset, able to work alongside educators, families, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instructional and support services to students with hearing impairments
- Assess students needs and tailor strategies to promote engagement and learning
- Consult with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and support accessibility
- Facilitate communication between students, peers, and staff using ASL or other appropriate methods
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students and their families regarding hearing loss, technology, and access to services
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support
