Empower students with hearing impairments as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist in a dynamic K-12 school environment. Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent educational credential
- Experience working with children in educational settings preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Solid understanding of assistive technology and auditory support services
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with teachers, students, and families
- Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments, adapting content for their unique needs
- Assess students auditory and communication abilities and monitor progress
- Consult regularly with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive learning
- Provide training and support for staff on hearing loss awareness, accommodations, and use of technology
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise on student needs and accommodations
- Foster a positive, accessible classroom atmosphere that supports student growth
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with district and legal requirements
