Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or eligibility to obtain one
- Strong knowledge of audiological technology, assistive listening devices, and classroom accommodations
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly valued
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
- Previous work in school settings, especially with diverse student populations, is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments in various educational settings
- Assess students needs and monitor their progress
- Develop and adjust IEP goals in partnership with families and team members
- Train and support teachers and staff on best practices and technology use
- Advocate for student accessibility needs within the school environment
- Facilitate positive communication between school, home, and the broader community
