Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or eligibility to obtain one
  • Strong knowledge of audiological technology, assistive listening devices, and classroom accommodations
  • Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly valued
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Previous work in school settings, especially with diverse student populations, is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments in various educational settings
  • Assess students needs and monitor their progress
  • Develop and adjust IEP goals in partnership with families and team members
  • Train and support teachers and staff on best practices and technology use
  • Advocate for student accessibility needs within the school environment
  • Facilitate positive communication between school, home, and the broader community
