Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience working with school-aged children who have varying degrees of hearing loss
- Strong knowledge of current assistive technology and communication methods (such as sign language, oral communication, and cued speech)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, support staff, and families
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments in individual and group settings
- Conduct assessments to guide individualized educational planning
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to accommodate students needs
- Support teachers by recommending strategies, resources, and classroom adaptations
- Help facilitate communication access through the use of interpreters, FM systems, and other assistive devices
- Maintain accurate records of services and student progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary teams
