Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
  • Experience working with school-aged children who have varying degrees of hearing loss
  • Strong knowledge of current assistive technology and communication methods (such as sign language, oral communication, and cued speech)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, support staff, and families
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments in individual and group settings
  • Conduct assessments to guide individualized educational planning
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to accommodate students needs
  • Support teachers by recommending strategies, resources, and classroom adaptations
  • Help facilitate communication access through the use of interpreters, FM systems, and other assistive devices
  • Maintain accurate records of services and student progress
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary teams
