Empower students by providing specialized support as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist in a school-based, contract role. This opportunity allows you to collaborate with a dedicated educational team, ensuring students with hearing challenges receive the resources and tailored instruction they need to thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Strong background working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices, communication modalities (including ASL), and classroom accommodations
- Ability to assess, plan, and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Experience in a school setting preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative support to students with hearing loss, adapting instruction based on each students unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to implement effective strategies and accommodations
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and progress monitoring
- Facilitate communication access in both classroom and extra-curricular settings
- Support staff in understanding Deaf culture, communication techniques, and best practices for accessibility
- Maintain thorough documentation of services provided and student progress
