Job Description

Empower students by providing specialized support as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist in a school-based, contract role. This opportunity allows you to collaborate with a dedicated educational team, ensuring students with hearing challenges receive the resources and tailored instruction they need to thrive academically and socially.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist
  • Strong background working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Knowledge of assistive listening devices, communication modalities (including ASL), and classroom accommodations
  • Ability to assess, plan, and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience in a school setting preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative support to students with hearing loss, adapting instruction based on each students unique needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to implement effective strategies and accommodations
  • Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and progress monitoring
  • Facilitate communication access in both classroom and extra-curricular settings
  • Support staff in understanding Deaf culture, communication techniques, and best practices for accessibility
  • Maintain thorough documentation of services provided and student progress
