Job Description
This position is for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist serving students in a school setting in Albany, OR. The role is a contract position focused on supporting the academic and communication needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
- Provide direct speech, language, and auditory skill instruction
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility and appropriate accommodations
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Participate in team meetings and communicate regularly with families and school personnel
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or related hearing impairment credential
- Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in educational settings
- Knowledge of sign language, assistive technology, and auditory training techniques
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
