Job Description

What youll need to succeed:

  • Masters degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Completion of a state-approved counselor preparation program
  • Eligibility for a Virginia counselor license or the required district endorsement
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective consulting and collaboration
  • Highly organized with attention to maintaining confidentiality and accurate records
  • Understanding of elementary education dynamics and diverse student populations

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing academic, career, and social-emotional counseling to elementary students, adapting approaches to individual and group needs
  • Conducting needs assessments and monitoring student progress throughout the school year
  • Consulting with teachers, families, and school staff to ensure coordinated support
  • Facilitating referrals when additional services or supports are needed
  • Upholding meticulous student records while adhering to confidentiality requirements
