Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Active and valid counselor credential/license
  • Previous experience in a school counseling role is highly desired
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues
  • Knowledge of current counseling techniques, conflict resolution, and behavioral intervention strategies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to varying needs throughout the school year

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Conduct group and individual counseling sessions to address students academic and personal concerns
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to design and implement support strategies
  • Advocate for students well-being while reinforcing safe and respectful school culture
  • Guide students through academic planning and help them set attainable goals
  • Support crisis intervention and offer referrals for external services when needed
  • Maintain thorough, confidential documentation and progress reports
  • Engage in professional development and stay informed of best practices in school counseling
