Key Qualifications & Desired Background:

• Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution
• Successful completion of a state-approved counselor preparation program
• Eligibility for Virginia licensure or endorsement as required by the district
• Experience or strong interest in school-based counseling, particularly at the elementary level
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide academic guidance, social-emotional support, and career counseling to a diverse student population
• Continually assess students needs and monitor their progress
• Work collaboratively with families, educators, and school staff to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all students
• Facilitate referrals and connections to outside resources for additional student support
• Manage and maintain accurate, confidential student records to ensure compliance and privacy
• Participate in meetings and contribute to counseling program development within the school community

This role involves a 37.5 hour per week schedule, with the current assignment running through May 2027. Specific caseload details will be confirmed closer to your start.
