Job Description

Desired Background and Abilities:

  • Valid state licensure or certification as a school counselor
  • Masters degree in school counseling, counseling, or related field
  • Experience supporting students in K-12 school settings
  • Strong communication and active listening skills
  • Ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and families
  • Familiarity with counseling best practices, ethical standards, and confidentiality guidelines
  • Proactive problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Commitment to inclusivity and cultural competence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address academic, emotional, and behavioral concerns
  • Develop and implement prevention and intervention programs
  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, and parents to create supportive learning environments
  • Conduct needs assessments and crisis intervention as required
  • Offer career and academic guidance to help students set and achieve goals
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records
  • Support students in managing social challenges, peer relationships, and transitions
  • Participate in professional development to remain current on counseling approaches
