Job Description

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a school counselor
  • Masters degree in school counseling, psychology, or related field
  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Familiarity with counseling strategies and conflict resolution techniques
  • Experience with individual and group counseling for children and adolescents

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to support students personal and academic development
  • Address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns, developing strategies to help students overcome challenges
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote student success
  • Assist with crisis intervention and develop intervention plans when necessary
  • Participate in the development of educational and behavioral plans
  • Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions in accordance with legal and ethical standards
  • Lead or support student workshops and classroom presentations on topics such as bullying prevention, career planning, and wellness
  • Advocate for an inclusive, positive school climate
