2023-2024 School Counselor Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Sunbelt is working with a school district in Baton Rouge, LA that is looking to fill a School Counselor need for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a contracted, full-time position!
Job Requirements:
- Masters degree in School Counseling
- Passing score on Praxis exam in the area of school guidance and counseling
- Authorization by the Louisiana DOE to provide K-12 counseling services
- Must complete Child Abuse training prior to employment.
Job Details:
- Full-time, 40 hrs/week, Onsite; K-12th grade
- Conduct classroom observations of students to help determine needs and/or to help assure generalization of skills learned during counseling sessions.
- Provide small group and individual counseling for students K-8 as part of response to intervention.
- Deliver classroom guidance lessons to students on topics that address needs.
- Plan and assist with implementation of school-wide positive behavior support systems.
- Monitor and collect data on student progress using a variety of data collection methods.
- Report student progress to staff and parents in a clear manner.
- Provide professional development to school staff.
- Consult with school staff and parents regarding the behavioral, social, and emotional needs of students, and recommend appropriate support strategies.
- Collaborate with community agencies and refer students and families to appropriate community mental health resources as needed.
- Develop and assist with implementation of 504 plans; schedule and attend 504 plan meetings.
- During district/state testing, schedule and proctor tests with accommodations for students with 504 plans
- Maintain pertinent student records in an organized and confidential manner.
- Conduct Suicide Risk Assessments to students demonstrating at-risk behavior.
- May serve as member of SBLC team.
