Job Description

Embark on a rewarding contract assignment as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supporting students in a school-based environment near Topeka, KS. You will collaborate closely with occupational therapists, educators, and other professionals to foster students independence and success both inside and outside the classroom.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active COTA licensure in Kansas (or eligible to obtain before start date)
  • Previous experience working with children or in pediatric settings preferred
  • Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and special education practices a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to contribute effectively to a multidisciplinary educational team

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist occupational therapists in planning and implementing therapy interventions tailored to individual students needs
  • Carry out treatment activities under the supervision of an occupational therapist
  • Document student progress and maintain detailed records in compliance with school and district policies
  • Adapt materials and environments to support student access and participation
  • Support students in developing fine motor skills, daily living activities, sensory processing, and self-regulation strategies
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, families, and staff to coordinate care and promote positive student outcomes
