Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Active state license in occupational therapy assistance
- Previous experience within a school environment highly preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to fostering student growth, engagement, and independence
- Organized, adaptable, and eager to learn from supervising therapists
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy interventions as outlined in students Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and under the direction of the OT
- Assist with assessments by collecting data and documenting student performance
- Support the development of fine motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills to help students succeed in the classroom
- Maintain comprehensive records and communicate progress effectively with the educational team
- Contribute to IEP meetings with observations and recommendations, when requested
- Set up therapy spaces and resources, ensuring safety and accessibility at all times
