Job Description

Play a vital role in supporting students educational journeys as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a dynamic school setting near Loves Park, IL. This contract opportunity allows you to make an impact working closely with an interdisciplinary team and serve a diverse student caseload requiring innovative therapeutic support.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid COTA licensure in Illinois.
  • Experience in school settings preferred; healthcare/therapy COTA background accepted.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism when collaborating with teachers, staff, and families.
  • Understanding of IEP processes and documentation.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple schools as an itinerant therapist and manage a flexible caseload.
  • Readiness to work under supervision provided by the districts licensed OTs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy interventions based on students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Address fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, and classroom participation needs.
  • Accurately document and track student progress within the districts IEP system (with training provided, if needed).
  • Participate in team meetings and communicate with faculty and families regarding student goals and achievements.
  • Rotate between assigned schools and manage travel as necessary (with paid travel compensation).
  • Ensure dedicated therapy space is used effectively for sessions.
  • Attend regular trainings and orient to district procedures to stay current with best practices.
