This opportunity focuses on enhancing student success by addressing diverse sensory, motor, and adaptive needs in educational settings throughout the area. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), youll bring your skills to multiple campuses, making a difference in students daily lives and collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams.
What youll need to succeed:
- Current Florida COTA license in good standing
- Comfort working in various school environments and grades, K12
- Ability and willingness to travel across the county to assigned school sites (assignments set in advance)
- Previous experience in school-based occupational therapy preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and staff
- Self-motivation, flexibility, and strong organizational skills
Primary responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students as prescribed in their IEPs
- Support students in meeting educational and functional goals, focusing on fine motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills
- Document session notes, progress reports, and participate in team meetings as required
- Adapt intervention plans under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist and contribute insights to student goal development
- Travel to and efficiently manage a caseload across multiple schools in the county
- Foster a positive, supportive environment for all students
