In this contract role, youll support occupational therapists and work closely with teachers, staff, and families to enhance students independence and participation in classroom activities.
Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Active state licensure (or eligibility) to practice as a COTA
- Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting is strongly preferred
- Ability to adapt therapeutic strategies to meet students diverse needs
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of an occupational therapist
- Support students in achieving functional goals related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and classroom participation
- Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to integrate therapy goals into the educational environment
- Collect data, monitor student progress, and document interventions compliant with school guidelines
- Participate in team meetings and contribute insights for Individualized Education Program (IEP) development
- Assist in educating staff and families on strategies to support student success
