Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Valid Michigan state licensure (or eligibility to obtain)
- Prior experience working with children or within school systems preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families
- Flexibility to adapt lessons and interventions for a diverse student population
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Support occupational therapy plans developed by a licensed Occupational Therapist
- Implement activities to improve fine/gross motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living skills within the school environment
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records according to school policies
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate strategies into classroom routines
- Adapt materials and modify tasks as needed to ensure accessibility
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development when required
- Foster an inclusive, supportive atmosphere for students with a variety of needs
