Make a meaningful impact by providing essential occupational therapy services as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a dynamic school-based setting near Durham, CT. Key Qualifications:
- Active COTA license in Connecticut (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience or strong interest in working within a school environment
- Understanding of IEP process and accommodation strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with educators, students, and families
- Ability to adapt to varying student needs and classroom dynamics
- Skilled in documenting progress and providing feedback to supervising Occupational Therapist
Role Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans to support student success across academic and functional areas
- Deliver direct therapy sessions to students as outlined in IEPs, targeting fine motor, sensory, and self-care skills
- Collaborate closely with OT, teachers, and other support staff
- Monitor, record, and report student progress and participation
- Contribute valuable input during IEP meetings and assist with documentation as needed
- Provide support and resources to help teachers integrate OT strategies in the classroom
