An exciting opportunity awaits for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) seeking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students. A full-time contract position is available in the Chicago area for the entire 2026-2027 school year. Work hours are set from 8am to 3pm, Monday through Friday, providing stability and a predictable schedule. This role involves rotating between three school sites, where you'll work closely with students with moderate to severe disabilities, developing their functional and academic skills through specialized occupational therapy interventions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Illinois COTA license is required
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is highly preferred
- Comfortable working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with educational staff and families
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites during the school day
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist in accordance with students Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Assist in developing adaptive strategies and accommodations to support students participation in academic and daily activities
- Document student progress and communicate needs and achievements with the school team
- Provide support and education to teachers and families to facilitate skill generalization
- Organize and maintain equipment and therapy materials at assigned sites
