Job Description

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant School-Based

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join a School District in Washington for the 20262027 school year! This is a full-time opportunity for a COTA who enjoys working with students and wants to make a meaningful impact in a school-based setting.

The COTA will work across multiple school buildings and grade levels (K12) based on student and program needs. Youll collaborate closely with the districts occupational therapy team to support students in reaching their individualized educational goals.

Position Details
Schedule: Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Grade Levels: K12
Setting: Multiple school buildings
Supervision: Work collaboratively with and under the supervision of an OTR/OT team

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services to students through direct and consultative support under the supervision of an OTR.
  • Address areas such as fine and gross motor skills, range of motion, sensory strategies, and functional activities related to students IEP goals.
  • Plan and provide individual or small-group therapy sessions based on student needs.
  • Collect and document data to support student progress monitoring.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, families, and other members of the student support team.
  • Recommend classroom strategies and interventions that support students participation and success.
  • Provide guidance and training to paraeducators as needed.
  • Collaborate regularly with the supervising OTR and participate in OT/PT professional learning opportunities.
  • Complete required documentation, including Medicaid documentation when applicable.
  • Travel between school buildings as needed throughout the school day.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and follow all district policies, safety procedures, and special education regulations.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Current COTA certification/licensure in Washington.
  • Previous experience working with students with special education needs is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, families, teachers, and school staff.
  • Comfortable working across multiple school locations and managing a varied schedule.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the OT team.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to bring humor, lightheartedness, and fun into the school environment!
