Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as an Autism Support Specialist working with students from kindergarten through age 21 in a dynamic, itinerant role. This contract position focuses on supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across various educational settings, utilizing evidence-based interventions and collaborating closely with school teams. Candidates with BCBA certification and relevant school-based experience are encouraged to bring their expertise to this diverse program.

Qualifications & Desired Experience

  • Valid BCBA certification with practical experience in school settings
  • Strong background in applied behavior analysis, including discrete trial teaching and pivotal response training
  • Familiarity with crafting, implementing, and revising behavior support plans
  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum, including those with high-functioning autism and Aspergers Syndrome
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration and team processes
  • Ability to interpret assessments and articulate findings to a wide range of audiences

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver instructional activities aligned with state standards and individualized student needs
  • Administer and interpret educational and behavioral assessments
  • Develop, modify, and implement behavior support plans based on ongoing data
  • Design intervention strategies that honor family systems and student diversity
  • Guide and train school staff, parents, and service providers in research-based interventions
  • Adapt general and special education curricula to meet unique learner needs
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings and assist with related service assessments
  • Promote social skills, self-advocacy, and independence among students
  • Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal guidelines
  • Serve as a liaison for families, offering resources and community agency information
