Job Description

This contract position offers an opportunity to work as an Autism Specialist supporting multiple schools across Polk, Yamhill, and Marion counties in Oregon. The role focuses on providing specialized expertise for students on the autism spectrum, with a caseload spanning various age groups. The position requires approximately 12 hours per week, beginning as soon as available through June 2025, with all services delivered in-person.

Key responsibilities include evaluating students through observation, assessment tools, and interviews to understand their unique learning needs. You will collaborate closely with educational teams, offering tailored guidance, resources, and strategies that address both academic and life skills development for autistic students. Direct intervention with students may be necessary, particularly when coaching staff on program implementation to ensure effective support. The role requires reliable transportation to travel between several school districts within the designated counties.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Current TSPC Special Education License
  • Expertise and experience working with autistic children in educational settings
  • Strong assessment and observation skills using rating scales and interview methods
  • Ability to provide clear, practical recommendations to educators and support staff
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with school personnel
  • Dependability and flexibility to manage travel among multiple sites
