Qualifications:
- Current California Adaptive Physical Education Teacher certification is required
- Experience working with students across various age ranges, particularly TK-8th grade
- Strong understanding of adaptive PE strategies, equipment, and curriculum modifications
- Ability to assess students individual needs and develop appropriate activity plans
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver adaptive physical education lessons tailored to student IEP goals
- Work onsite with a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours
- Assess motor skills and physical functioning; document progress and update goals
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate on strategies for student success
- Modify activities, provide appropriate equipment, and ensure safety and engagement for all students
- Serve as a resource on adaptive PE for colleagues and contribute to professional learning communities
