Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Current Michigan Adaptive Physical Education (APE) certification required
• Professional experience as a Special Education Physical Education Teacher
• Demonstrated success adapting PE curriculum to meet individual student needs
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
• Passion for creating engaging, accessible physical activities for all students

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver customized physical education lessons for students in grades K-12, tailored to their individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Assess students physical abilities and needs, providing targeted interventions
• Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, and families to ensure cohesive support
• Foster a safe, motivating learning environment that encourages participation and skill development
• Document progress, complete required reports, and attend IEP meetings as needed
• Stay current with best practices and innovative approaches in adapted physical activity
