Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting K-8 students as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for the upcoming school year! This contract opportunity is based onsite at a single location near Ventura, CA, and offers you the chance to help students thrive by ensuring all learners have equal access to physical education.

In this role, your expertise will be pivotal in fostering growth and independence for students who require adaptive PE services. Youll collaborate closely with educators, therapists, and families to assess students needs, develop tailored physical education plans, and adapt activities for diverse abilitiescreating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid California Adaptive Physical Education Certification
  • Previous experience working with K-8 populations (preferred)
  • Strong skills in assessments and developing individualized plans (IEPs)
  • Ability to modify instruction for various physical and cognitive abilities
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assess students motor skills and adaptive needs through formal and informal measures
  • Design and implement individualized physical education programs aligned with IEP goals
  • Modify PE activities to promote participation, inclusion, and achievement of health-related skills
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff for seamless integration
  • Monitor and document student progress, participating in IEP meetings as needed

This full-time opportunity requires a 35-hour workweek from August through December, providing the rewarding experience of supporting students physical and social-emotional development during the critical school year.
