Job Description

A specialized opening is available for a Recreational Therapist serving preschool through middle school students in Palmdale, CA. This role provides essential therapeutic recreational services aimed at enhancing the well-being and development of students within a 20-35 hour per week schedule, five days a week. The caseload includes two students, offering the chance for focused, impactful engagement.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally-accredited college or university with a concentration in Recreation Therapy OR completion of recreation therapy-specific coursework combined with paid work experience utilizing therapeutic recreation processes.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential from the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification OR Recreation Therapist Certified (RTC) issued by the California Board of Recreation Therapy Certification (CBRTC).
  • Experience or interest in working across a preschool to middle school age range is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Planning and delivering recreational therapy programs tailored to the unique needs of the students.
  • Collaborating with educational and therapeutic staff to integrate recreational therapy into individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitoring student progress and adapting interventions to maximize therapeutic outcomes.
  • Supporting social, cognitive, emotional, and physical development through structured activities.
