Embrace an opportunity to make a lasting impact by providing adaptive physical education services to K-8 students. This contract position offers a dynamic school-based environment where you will work onsite, full time (35 hours/week), from August through December during the 26.27 school year.
As an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, you'll support a single site focused on fostering inclusion and helping every student participate fully in physical education. Bring your expertise in adapting activities and shaping individualized plans to empower students and collaborate with dedicated educators.
Qualifications:
- Valid California Adaptive Physical Education Teacher Certification
- Experience designing and implementing IEP goals for diverse learners
- Strong skills in assessing motor development and modifying activities for accessibility
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and families
- Passion for fostering a safe and inclusive physical education environment for all students
Responsibilities:
- Assess students motor abilities and determine appropriate adaptive strategies
- Develop and implement individualized adaptive physical education plans in alignment with IEPs
- Modify traditional physical activities to ensure safe, meaningful participation for every learner
- Track student progress and communicate regularly with special education teams, teachers, and parents
- Advocate for the value of adaptive physical education within the K-8 setting
