Job Description

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher serving students in the scenic region near Shasta Lake, CA. This full-time, itinerant role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact across multiple school sites by providing both general physical education and specialized adaptive PE services. Each day, youll engage 5th grade general education students in two periods of PE, followed by dedicated support for special education students, ensuring an inclusive environment that nurtures every learners growth.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid APE Authorization attached to a Multiple or Single Subject Credential
  • Experience teaching physical education, with a strong emphasis on adaptive PE for students with varying abilities
  • In-depth understanding of IEP goals and the implementation of adaptive strategies in a school-based setting
  • Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate across teams and adapt instruction as needed
  • Organized, flexible, and comfortable working in an itinerant capacity, traveling between assigned schools

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging general and adaptive PE lessons tailored to student needs
  • Provide individualized instruction for special education students across various grade levels
  • Develop and maintain progress reports, tracking students physical and motor skill development
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary school teams, including special education staff, to ensure student success
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive school environment that celebrates student milestones and achievements
