A full-time contract role is available for an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher who is passionate about supporting both general education and special education students. You'll work in an engaging, collaborative environment near Redding, CA, providing vital services across multiple school sites as an itinerant educator.
Your day will be balanced between teaching two periods of 5th grade general education PE at the end of each school day and delivering targeted adaptive physical education services to special education students throughout the remainder of your schedule. This blended caseload offers a rewarding mixture of direct instruction and specialized support.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid APE Authorization to Multiple or Single Subject Teaching Credential (required)
- Previous experience with adaptive physical education programs preferred
- Capacity to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across various school sites
- Experience with both general education and special education student populations is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement differentiated PE lessons for both general and adaptive physical education students
- Travel between assigned schools to provide direct services, assessments, and support
- Track student progress and maintain comprehensive documentation
- Collaborate with school teams to develop and adjust individualized education plans (IEPs)
