Job Description

Make an impact by supporting students in grades K-8 as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for a full-time contract position onsite in the vibrant Oxnard, CA area. In this role, you'll play a vital part in fostering inclusive physical education environments, working closely with one school community throughout the fall semester (August December) for the 26.27 SY.

Your responsibilities will center on assessing students motor skills, designing and implementing individualized physical education plans (including IEP goals), and adapting activities to ensure all students can participate safely and effectively. In addition, collaboration with general education staff, special education teams, and families will be essential in supporting student growth and success.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Current Adaptive Physical Education Certification valid in California
  • Experience developing and implementing IEP-driven physical education programs
  • Strong ability to modify and adapt activities for various student needs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
  • Passion for promoting physical fitness and wellness in inclusive school settings

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess student motor skills and unique needs related to physical education
  • Develop and carry out individualized PE plans, incorporating specific IEP goals
  • Modify and adapt PE activities to ensure accessibility for all students
  • Work with classroom teachers, administrators, and other service providers to support student participation
  • Maintain thorough documentation and communication regarding student progress
