Are you a passionate Developmental Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE) Teacher looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students with diverse physical, developmental, and educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated and innovative educator to join a supportive school team in the Northern Minneapolis, Minnesota area for the upcoming school year.

This is an excellent opportunity to help students build physical skills, confidence, independence, and lifelong healthy habits through individualized adaptive physical education programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver individualized DAPE instruction based on students' IEP goals, abilities, and developmental needs.
  • Adapt physical education activities, equipment, and environments to ensure students can safely and meaningfully participate.
  • Assess students' motor skills, physical abilities, and progress while using data to guide instruction.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, general education staff, therapists, paraprofessionals, and families to support student success.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to measurable goals, accommodations, and progress monitoring.
  • Provide instruction that promotes gross motor development, coordination, mobility, balance, strength, endurance, and functional independence.
  • Support students with a wide range of disabilities and developmental needs in individual, small-group, and inclusive settings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure services align with IEP requirements and Minnesota regulations.

Qualifications

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license/credential appropriate for Developmental Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE).
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Education, Special Education, DAPE, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities or developmental needs preferred.
  • Strong understanding of adaptive physical education, motor development, and differentiated instruction.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • Passion for creating inclusive opportunities that allow every student to participate and succeed.
