Job Description

A K-12 educational institution in Glendale, CA, is seeking a skilled Adaptive Physical Education Teacher or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students in enhancing their physical education experience. This position involves working closely with students across all grade levels to adapt physical activities, ensuring inclusivity and promoting physical wellness.

Separately, there is an opening for a Recreational Therapist located in Palmdale, CA, serving a preschool to middle school age group. This contract position offers 20-35 hours per week, five days a week, focusing on a small caseload of two students.

Qualifications for Recreational Therapist:

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university with either:
    • A concentration in Recreation Therapy, or
    • Completion of therapeutic recreation coursework combined with paid experience applying therapeutic recreation processes
  • Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) from the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification, OR
  • Recreation Therapist Certified (RTC) credential issued by the California Board of Recreation Therapy Certification (CBRTC)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized therapeutic recreation plans tailored to student needs
  • Monitor and document progress, adapting interventions as required
  • Collaborate with educational and therapy teams to support student development
  • Facilitate recreational activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being
