Job Description

We're searching for a passionate Developmental Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (DAPE) to work with middle school students for a contract position during the 2026 fall semester. This engaging role will be split between two middle schools and requires dedication, adaptability, and a desire to promote inclusion within school-based physical education programs.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota DAPE teaching license required
  • Demonstrated experience working with students requiring adapted physical education
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Enthusiasm for collaboration with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver adaptive physical education lessons tailored to individual student needs
  • Assess student abilities, set appropriate goals, and track progress
  • Implement IEPs aligned with state standards and district objectives
  • Modify physical activities and curriculum to foster student participation and skill growth
  • Collaborate with general education P.E. staff and special education personnel
  • Communicate regularly with families on student progress and adaptive strategies
  • Maintain accurate records and provide input at IEP meetings

This assignment is full-time (1.0 FTE; 37.5 hours/week) Monday through Friday, with a start date in early September 2026 and continuing through the end of November. The opportunity allows you to work closely with teams at two welcoming middle schools, helping students achieve their personal best.
