Job Description
Make a meaningful impact as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher supporting students throughout an engaging, full-time contract role. This position involves working itinerantly with a dynamic mix of general education and special education students. Youll spend two periods daily instructing 5th-grade general education PE, then devote the remainder of your day providing adaptive PE services to students receiving special education across various campuses, enabling diverse learners to thrive in a supportive setting.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Current APE authorization, either through a Multiple or Single Subject Credential in California.
- Background or formal training in adaptive physical education methodologies.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and families.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in an itinerant capacity across multiple school sites.
- Commitment to equity and the holistic development of every student.
Primary responsibilities:
- Plan and implement engaging adaptive PE lessons tailored to individual IEP goals.
- Instruct two daily 5th-grade general education PE periods.
- Travel between assigned schools to provide direct services to special education students.
- Assess and document each students progress, collaborating with IEP teams as needed.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that celebrates each students abilities.
