Job Description
Make a difference every day by empowering students through adaptive physical education in an itinerant contract role. This opportunity focuses on delivering meaningful physical education aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for students with disabilities. As an Adaptive PE Teacher, you'll plan engaging lessons and activities, modify curriculum to meet a variety of needs, and help foster physical and motor development in an inclusive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited education program
- Valid NCDPI PE Certification (please submit proof of current licensure/certification)
- Experience working with students with disabilities and/or prior adaptive physical education teaching background preferred
- Strong collaboration skills to work with special education teams, related service providers, and families
- Effective classroom management and behavioral support abilities
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
Responsibilities:
- Develop and adapt lesson plans and activities based on student abilities and IEP goals
- Deliver engaging and accessible instruction for students with a wide range of needs
- Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment
- Track and assess student progress, documenting growth and participation
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to IEP meetings
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training
- Uphold school and district policies, and supervise students during class
- Perform other duties as assigned to support student success
This is a full-time contract position (40 hours per week) starting as soon as possible and continuing through May 28, 2028. Enjoy providing services that truly matter while working closely with a dedicated team of educators.
