Job Description

Empower middle school students to thrive through inclusive physical education! An Adaptive Physical Education (APE) professional is needed for the 2026/2027 academic year to provide part-time, onsite support across a district-wide middle school program near Amherst, MA. Make a meaningful difference with a flexible 22.5 day per week schedule, collaborating with diverse teams to deliver both direct APE instruction and consultative services.

What We're Looking For:

  • Active Adaptive Physical Education certification or relevant licensure (as required)
  • Experience within school settings, ideally supporting middle school students with disabilities
  • Confident delivering individualized and small group adaptive PE instruction
  • Skilled communicator able to collaborate with educators, support staff, and families
  • Strong organizational abilities for managing district-wide travel and scheduling
  • Ability to provide consultative support and adapt programming per student IEP needs
  • Reliable transportation needed for travel between multiple campuses
  • Successful completion of drug screening, fingerprinting, and background/CORI check
  • Dependable attendance and communication regarding absences or scheduling changes

Your Impact:

  • Deliver engaging Adaptive Physical Education services to middle-schoolers district-wide
  • Evaluate student abilities and create safe, inclusive lesson plans
  • Collaborate closely with teaching teams, therapists, and district staff
  • Assess progress and contribute to IEP meetings and documentation
  • Offer expertise and coaching to general education staff and families as needed
