As a Registered Respiratory Therapist in this setting, youll adapt to a dynamic environment that requires mental agility and technical expertise, particularly as the facility does not have a dedicated NICU but stabilizes and sometimes ventilates neonates until specialized care arrives. This unique context will help you refine your rapid assessment and critical care collaboration, all while learning from diverse care delivery methods and leadership styles.
Schedule/Hours:
- 6:00 p.m. 6:00 a.m.
- Varied days, every other weekend required
Key Qualifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials required
- Active ABG License
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- NICU experience necessary (stabilization and ventilation until transfer)
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
Responsibilities:
- Deliver physician-prescribed respiratory care and assess patient needs
- Obtain/interpret physiological specimens and cardiopulmonary data
- Administer mechanical ventilatory support and artificial airway care
- Monitor/adjust medical gases and environmental control systems
- Provide bronchopulmonary hygiene, pharmacological agents, and facilitate cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
- Stabilize neonates and prepare for safe transfer
