Exciting opportunity for a Registered Respiratory Therapist to apply specialized pediatric respiratory care skills in a travel role. This position is based in Strongsville, OH, offering the chance to experience a vibrant community while delivering expert respiratory therapy services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medicated aerosol therapy using small volume nebulizers, breath-actuated nebulizers, vibrating mesh nebulizers, and related devices.
- Provide patient education on aerosol, MDI, DPI therapy, and manage medication carts with Omnicell and barcode medication administration systems.
- Perform airway clearance therapy including clapping, vibration, directed cough, PEP, oscillatory PEP, hyperinflation therapy, high-frequency chest wall oscillation, intermittent percussive ventilation, acoustic airway clearance, and cough assist.
- Manage airway care: suctioning, tracheostomy care, manual ventilation, ventilator system checks, CPAP/BiPAP/NIMV, negative pressure ventilation, and NAVA initiation and management.
- Participate in high-risk delivery respiratory care protocols including surfactant administration, NRP protocol, T-piece ventilation, and intubation.
- Conduct blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation.
- Apply humidity therapies with heated humidity devices, aerosol masks, trach collars, T-pieces, face shields, and HME.
- Follow clinical practice guidelines for asthma, cystic fibrosis, RDS management, BPD prevention, acute chest syndrome, HFNC protocol, respiratory care consult services, and nitric oxide protocols.
- Monitor respiratory parameters such as pulse oximetry, peak flow, capnography, ventilator graphics, sleep studies, spontaneous breathing trials, and transcutaneous CO2.
- Assist with patient transport, including HFNC portable units, MRI movement with assisted ventilation, neonatal rapid response, and nitric oxide transport.
- Manage oxygen and special gas therapy using nasal cannulas, oxygen masks, high flow nasal cannulas, tanks, blenders, analyzers, and troubleshoot inhaled nitric oxide calibration.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- Pediatric respiratory therapy proficiency.
- Experience with a wide range of respiratory modalities and clinical protocols.
- Strong skills in patient education and multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Ability to perform respiratory monitoring and interpret data accurately.
- Flexibility for travel assignments.
