Job Description

A Registered Respiratory Therapist with specialized expertise in pediatric cardiopulmonary care is needed to deliver advanced respiratory services in a dynamic clinical setting. This contract role emphasizes patient-centered care, utilizing scientific principles and therapies to optimize outcomes for pediatric patients, including those in Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICU).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer a full range of respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, inhaled medications, airway clearance, and both invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies by providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation as required.
  • Evaluate physicians orders and patient diagnostic data to deliver appropriate therapies, implementing approved protocols where applicable.
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory care equipment use, ensuring comprehension and adherence.
  • Document treatments, supplies, and patient responses thoroughly while adhering to policies such as infection control and HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and students, contributing to continuous quality improvement efforts.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Required certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Preferred: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in general pediatrics and PICU settings.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency with electronic medical documentation.

Schedule and Location:

  • Location: Near Salado, Texas, with work based in Temple, TX.
  • Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • Duration: 13-week assignment, travel flexibility required.
