Job Description

This opportunity seeks an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide specialized respiratory care in a fast-paced adult acute care setting. The role is a night shift contract position based in the Birmingham area. Candidates with a strong background in acute care and a proactive, team-oriented approach are encouraged to consider this rewarding role.

Location:
Situated near Pelham, AL, this position serves a large 595-bed hospital staffed for approximately 350 patients. The hospital boasts advanced respiratory therapy equipment, including Servo I ventilators, V60, Vapotherm systems, and RapidPoint ABG analyzers. The unit primarily cares for neuro and cardiac patients within a 14-bed ICU and adjacent non-acute areas.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), approximately 36 hours/week
  • Weekend Coverage: Typically every third weekend; occasional every other weekend possible
  • No call requirements
  • Float responsibility includes main adult house and occasional backup for Free Standing ER

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) with 3+ years acute care experience
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
  • Proven time management and attendance reliability
  • Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
  • Night shift experience in facilities with a minimum of 4 therapists per shift highly desired
  • Commitment to delivering thorough respiratory therapy without omission

  • Adherence to dress code: black scrubs, no artificial or long nails, standard nail polish only, max one ring per hand, no bracelets except medical alerts
